The department of physiology was introduced in this college from the session 2003 – 2004 as three yr. degree General Course under the affiliation of Vidyasagar University.

The course curriculum of physiology deals with human beings related matters.

Physiology is closely linked with a number of other branches of science. Its developments have led to further development of the understanding of physiological processes. If one looks critically with rational thought, it will be found that most of the branches of Life Science, such as biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology, immunology, microbiology, biotechnology, ergonomics, sports physiology, neuro – biology, marine physiology aviation physiology, etc. have originated from the subject – physiology. In fact, Physiology has become a multi – disciplinary subject.

Role of Physiologists as a educator in schools, Colleges and Universities has been well established. Physiology have been engaged in different medical college faculties in this country and abroad. As research workers the students have excelled themselves in labour institutes, sports institutes, mining, defence institutes, space research institutes, bio – technology institutes, IITS, IICB, cancer research institutes, food & nutrition research, drugs & Pharmaceutical industries & research, brain research institutes, institutes of Tropical medicine, veterinary research, micro, biological research etc.

Needless to point out, physiology is an ever – changing field, the main goal of which is to explain the physical & chemical factors that are responsible for the origin, development & progression of life.

For teaching the subject qualitatively and efficiently , many young, energetic and highly qualified part – time teachers have been engaged.
